Our free online application is designed to determine whether Neighborhood is the right fit for you. 

We want you to win, and in order for our program to truly be able to empower you to achieve your goals, we need to ask a few preliminary questions about you! Tell us more about you, your job history, and why you think Neighborhood is the place for you!

STEP 3: Career Conversation

When you’ve completed your admissions work, you will complete a call for a 30 minute phone interview with one of our Career Coaches to review your application and admissions work!

Eligibility Requirements

Age Range: 18-55

To be eligible for admittance into our career program, you will need to be between the ages of 18 and 55.

Stable Housing

To be eligible for admittance into our career program, you will need to have a stable housing.* 

*Stable housing simply means that you must have enough housing stability to know that you’ll have a roof over your head each night

Desire To Work Full Time

To be eligible for admittance into our career program, you must have a desire to work full-time.

Our goal at Neighborhood is to empower motivated individuals to work in a full-time career. Graduation from our program requires that students are either working or hired to be working full-time.

High School Diploma or GED

To be eligible for admittance into our career program, you will need to have a high school diploma or GED

6 Months Sobriety

To be eligible for admittance into our career program, you will need to have a minimum of 6 months sobriety from hard drugs (cocaine, heroine, meth, etc.) and alcohol abuse.

Neighborhood is a drug-free program

FAQ

Can I work during the program?

Yes, many people work part-time, or even full time while in our program. You just need to be at all classes during weekdays.

What is Neighborhood’s drug policy?

We are a drug free program. You will be disqualified if you test positive for any hard drugs. If you test positive for THC (weed) that will NOT disqualify you, but to become employable for specific employers you will may need to agree to stop using marijuana and submit to testing while in the program.

Do you offer childcare?

We offer childcare on Wednesday nights during Family Gatherings, but you’ll need childcare during your weekday classes.

Do students need to pay anything back?

No! Our scholarships and monthly stipends to you are our gift to you and you don’t need to pay it back. We do this so you can win.

More Common Questions

  • After you’ve completed your application and submitted all of your required documents, you will know if you are accepted within one week from when you submit your materials

  • Currently we have two classes per year, of 15-20 people. Classes do fill up quickly, and you may be added to a waitlist for the next class.

  • Classes are onsite, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday from 9:00am to 1:00pm for 6 months

  • Family Gathering is a time where our classes come together for dinner and community building.

    We meet on Wednesdays from 6pm to 8pm.

    Yes, they are required.

  • No! This program is at zero cost to you.

    Skills offered vary by class. Your pre-coaching session, a phone call with a Coach before class begins, will give you exact details for the skill trakcs offered for your class

  • The stipend is a financial gift from us to you that is performance based.

    You can earn UP TO $175 every two weeks, or UP TO $350/month

    It is paid every two weeks (twice/month, on Fridays)

    You must have a bank account for the stipend to be directly deposited.

  • A Leader is a program participant or student. You are leading the change in your life.

  • This person is on staff at Neighborhood and it’s their job to walk the road with you.

    You will check in weekly with your Coach. You will have at least one extended meeting time with your Coach monthly.

  • Yes, you do need a job to graduate. In order to graduate you must be working full-time in the skill track that you were trained for, and be making at least $15/hour

  • You are communicating: Participating with other Leaders and Teachers during class and at Family Gatherings. Contacting your Coach weekly as you work together to meet your goals

    You complete assignments and Skill Track certification

    You get a job within your skill track

    You attend Graduation

  • At this time, there are not any felonies that we don’t work with, but depending on the felony on your background, it could prevent you from participating in the skill training of your choice.

  • Allies are community volunteers that serve as an added layer of support to you. You will meet them and engage with them the most during Family Gathering

  • The main reason that people drop out is because the required schedule is not conducive to their life, in short, attendance.

    No, you do not have to pay us back if you drop out.

  • We are a Christian non-profit, which means there our leaders are motivated by their faith. Many of our staff will talk about their relationship with God as part of their story during class, but it is not required to be religious.

  • When you are 70% completed within your Skill Track studies you will begin actively looking for a job.

    While we have a Career Professional actively building networks within our skill tracks, you will need to apply for these jobs.

    It is up to you to look, apply and land the job. You need to get a job before the class graduation date.
